Description
There are 4K Ultra HD TVs, and then there is Sony’s flagship 4K Ultra HD TV with four times the clarity of HD, more brilliant expanded color and up to 3x the brightness range of standard LED HDTVs. Breathtaking detail is depicted with pinpoint accuracy for the most natural images. The TRILUMINOS display produces the widest color spectrum we’ve ever offered in a TV. But what really sets this TV apart is Sony’s exclusive X-tended Dynamic Range PRO full array local dimming technology for up to 3x the brightness range. The range of peak brightness to the deepest of blacks is unlike any contrast Sony has ever offered in a TV. It’s quite simply the most immersive, highest resolution TV experience possible.
Four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p1. The 4K Ultra HD screen contains over 8 million individual pixels that transform everything you watch into a life-like experience. Advanced picture processing also ensures that every single pixel displays images with superb brightness and authentic detail.

2 Thumbs Up!!!
I could not be happier with my new 65X950B. It’s even more amazing then my upgrade from the 65X900A which I sold to a friend. The blacks truly are incredible. I had a Kuro in the past and it blows the plasma away. I also have the awesome hx950 in my bedroom & this set puts it to shame. This tv also does a great job of up-scaling my different inputs to 4k as long as it is a 1080p signal. I am a hardcore gamer. This thing rocks no input lag whatsoever in game standard mode. PS4 & XBOX ONE tested. COD Ghosts, Titanfall, Wolfenstein, Second Son, & Watch Dogs. The graphics also look more enhanced from the 900a.
The 3D is also amazing with comfortable active glasses. You also do not have to plug them in to charge them anymore. I could go on and on… Nuf said thanks again Sony for another incredible TV worth every penny!!!

65″ 4K X950B
i’ve had Sony before (52″ in 2009} REAL GOOD.
this 65″ 4K X950B is the Very “BEST” i have ever had in my life.
the color,blacks,sharpness,size,controls,speed,ALL things are “GREAT”
the 4K was the best i’ve seen to date and there was only one (1) show @ 2160k on Netflix there will be MORE 4k shows soon…i know this will take time.
i order from SONY on the 19th and got it on the 28th when they said, “it will be there on that date” and it WAS…
i am a tech guy who knows a thing or to about TV’s & Computers
so i have looked at this 4K for some time now…
ALL i can say is… “it’s the BEST 4K 65″ TV ”

Update/ correction
The other 4 star review is “INCORRECT” this TV DOES in fact have the full array.. Just read the Specifications. Always be careful about what others write. And when they make a review based on the wrong Information it does need to be corrected. So would he/she have made a 5 star review if they had the correct information, and would they say the blacks are incredible because it is full array.. I DONT KNOW>. I plan on getting this TV or the next size bigger and when I do.. i will correct and add to this review. I have Had Sony Tv s for my whole life, and they have always made The most excepional TVS.

Getting There!
As the current owner of 6 XBR’s from 40″ to 55″ and 15 other Sony’s over the past 35 years, I feel that I can comfortably review Sony’s 4K Ultra HD TV progress.
The X950B without the wedge design is a major step in the right direction, with or without the larger speakers! However there are some serious concerns;
The Good:
The Triluminous Full-Array LED backlighting while different from the XBR 8, is the only way to fly with a large flat panel HD TV!
I have taken friends who were on a budget but wanted Sony to purchase Edge-Lit XBR sets. They look really good but don’t compare to Full-Array XBR’s.
The questionable:
Yes, it’s new, but $8K for a 65″ 4K HD TV is steep even for my taste, Full-Array or no Full-Array!
As far as dark blacks are concerned, in my humble opinion it’s been over-hyped by the plasma manufacturers. What Sony should be touting is Shadow Detail, not how black the blacks are; Super black is nothing without decent detail in it!!
My biggest issue is with the new stand design which does not consider that everyone can or will wall mount their new 55″, 65″ or 79″ 4K HD TV’s! With legs/feet spread apart the width of the set, most people will have to replace their nice entertainment cabinet with one at least 64″ to 84″ wide to safely accommodate their new 65″ to 79″ 4K HD TV’s!!
Have you priced decent large size entertainment cabinets! What was Sony thinking??
Sony should consider some form of a retro-fit pedestal stand for at least the 55″ and 65″ sets so people can place them on top of their existing cabinets!
Also, why is Sony the only major TV manufacturer that does not offer a 60″ Full-Array flagship 4K Ultra HD TV??
Last but not least, what happened to the frameless Gorilla Glass styling? Are we going backward design-wise?
